Money is not the root of all evil. There are other reasons that lead one to do evil. In this hectic life, almost every person in this world is searching for money. They are individualistic and materialistic. Life nowdays is very different compared to our forefathers.
Money becomes a person's master if that person values material possessions above everything else. Many people do not realize that they are enslaved by money. You would know they are enslaved when making money is the top priority in their lives. They work long hours everyday and have no time for their families and friends. THis often leads to marital problems, broken homes, neglected children, loneliness and much misery.
Money is a necessity and plays an important role in our daily life. Greed for money is the root of all evil. There are people who love money more than life! Whether it is others or their own. Such people are reckless and dangerous. They commit all kinds of crimes to get money. As long as they can have monetary gain, they would not hesitate to rob, to destroy and also to kill.
Destruction of the environment is another example of evil caused by greed. Toxic waste is being dumped indiscriminately because it costs money to dispose waste properly. Fisherman who want a bigger hawl to earn money rsort to using fishing methods which destroy marine life such as dragnet fishing and the use of dynamite. Vast areas of forest have been cut down to make timber merchants rich and property developers wealthy.
However, money in itself is harmless. The love of money is the root of a lot of evil in the world today. But I do not think that it is responsible for all evil. In fact, money can be used for good too and there are other factors that lead on to do crime. Things that happen to us influence us all. Films and televisions today are filled with violence. There have been cases here armed robberies copy the methods shown on popular films. It is undeniable that films and televisions programmes do have a direct bearing on the incidence of crime-not money!
Money if channelled to finance important research work will help to find solutions to some of the problems we face today such as incurable diseases. Money can be used to help those who cannot help themselves by providing special care for people with mental or physical disabilities for instance, or helping to feed victims of famines, floods and others. Money also can be used to build great educational institution, temples, mosques and churches.
To conclude, I would like to say that money is agood servant but a bad master. Money by itself is all right. Money bcomes the root of all evil when people make it their god. Money can be used for good and it can make you happy.
